The airplane I’ve been working on for the last few years took its first flight today. This is the first product I’ve worked on as a professional that has actually flown. It’s quite a sight to see parts I designed on an actual flying aircraft. I’ve dreamed of this moment for a long time

Awesome I know the feeling when you see your work go commercial it is a great feeling although mine was just software manuals. Still I had a great sense of accomplishment.
So now that I’ve buttered you up cliff notes on what makes this plane hotter than the Citation X?

Congratulations. First flights are always a great event.
What parts did you design?

That’s awesome, congrats!

It’s a good bit larger than a X. It can fly further as well.

Many. Lots of structure in the tail, and the ailerons

And the best thing is, it’s a gift that keeps on giving. Twenty years after leaving the auto industry, I still see cars on the road that I was involved in designing. And it still gives me a buzz every time :-).

Congratulations! Must be a great feeling.

My mother designed some of the toilet plumbing for the original 747 - not quite as sexy. She got pregnant, had me, and said screw this aircraft toilet plumbing design gig. Congrats.

Most sincere congratulations sir!
It feels great and satisfying to see a product you worked on go out into the world...especially something that impressive!

Congratulations. Now umm... your plane... well it’s got something on its nose. It’s barely noticeable though, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. It’ll probably buff out in production.

That empennage is pure Hawker... ditto for that pitot ram scoop (I assume for the pre-coolers). Have you no shame, cannibalizing my beloved 4000???
Sincerely, former Hawker-Beechcraft aerodynamicist (left before the blow-out)

The loft is derived from Hawker, but the structure underneath is all new

Congrats, that is very cool! My dad flew Citations for many years, so I’ve always had something of a soft spot for them.
